A 3-year-old baby died after being left in a car whereas within the care of a contractor for the Alabama Division of Human Assets, the Birmingham Police Division mentioned in a press launch.

The contracted employee, whom police did not determine, has been cooperating with the investigation into the demise, regulation enforcement mentioned. The employee was “transported to the Birmingham Police Headquarters for questioning,” police mentioned.
Police had been dispatched to the 1500 block of Pine Tree Drive at about 5:30 p.m. on July 22, regulation enforcement mentioned.
“Katerrius was by accident left within a car whereas within the care of a third-party contracted employee by means of the Division of Human Assets,” the police mentioned. “Birmingham Fireplace & Rescue Service arrived and pronounced the sufferer deceased.”
He was recognized by the Jefferson County Coroner, police mentioned.
