Arctic blast slams Midwest, Northeast as snow prompts school closures in Mid-Atlantic

The coldest air of the season is invading the Midwest and Northeast because the Mid-Atlantic sees its first snow of the season.

Report low temperatures have been recorded throughout the Midwest and Northeast on Friday morning, together with: 6 levels in Scranton, Pennsylvania; minus 4 levels in Plattsburgh, New York, zero levels in Springfield, Illinois; and 3 levels in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
