Hours later, many DOE workers realized their response message had been altered to include partisan language with out their consent. The automated reply now blamed Senate Democrats for the complete shutdown.
It’s not clear who made the change to electronic mail accounts, which was first posted about on Bluesky by journalist Marisa Kabas. “It’s disturbing,” says a DOE worker who requested to stay nameless as a result of they weren’t approved to talk to the press.
