Carlos Portugal Gouvêa, a visiting professor at Harvard Regulation College, was arrested final week following a shooting incident in entrance of Temple Beth Zion on Yom Kippur. Gouvêa was charged with illegally discharging a pellet gun, disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and malicious harm of private property.
Safety for the Temple known as the police reporting a person with a gun, after the capturing which occurred their Kol Nidre service. There was harm to a close-by automobile that police consider is from Gouvêa’s pellet gun. In keeping with the Temple’s statement, nobody was injured within the capturing and so they “haven’t any purpose to consider this was an anti-Semitic occasion.”
Gouvêa advised authorities he used the pellet gun to “hunt rats within the space.” Following his arraignment, Gouvêa was launched on his recognizance.
Harvard Regulation positioned Gouvêa on “administrative go away as the college seeks to be taught extra about this matter.”
Gouvêa himself graduated from HLS in 2008 and is an affiliate professor on the College of São Paulo Regulation College and the CEO of the International Regulation Institute. His programs this semester at Harvard embody Corruption and Inequality Seminar: Unraveling the Vicious Circle, and Sustainable Capitalism.
Gouvêa is due again in courtroom for a pretrial listening to November sixth.
